A Catholic monk living in Mexico City was charged in San Diego with trying to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity and attempting to transfer obscene material, prosecutors said Wednesday.I wonder why he was in Mexico to begin with....
Earl John Place, 61, a U.S. citizen, was expelled from Mexico City by Mexican immigration officials and extradited Tuesday to San Diego, authorities said....
A two-count indictment -- unsealed when Place was arrested -- alleges that between June and September, Place, using mail and the computer, knowingly attempted to persuade, entice, coerce and induce a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
The indictment also alleges that on Aug. 21, Place attempted to transfer obscene material to a minor under the age of 16.
