Has He Gone Completely Insane?
Good God.... This is the scariest thing of all time. And the worst part is that people actually listen to this."I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God, you just rejected Him from your city," Robertson said on his daily television show broadcast from Virginia, "The 700 Club."
"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.
Please, Lord, All-Powerful God, just create an Island of Stupid and empower your mighty angels to transport Robertson there to live with Frances Kissling forever. Take control, Jesus. Amen.

Yes, please also send the following toxic religious figures to the same desert island:
Diogenes
Ian Paisely
Barbara Harris
Richard Holloway
John Shelby Spong
Richard McBrien
Dale Vree
Louie Crew
Earle Fox
Al Sharpton
I'm sure I can think of some others
Oh, and send Gene Robinson and Richard Williamson to their own private desert island. It would be a victory for ecumenism, and, besides, as there will be no trouser-wearing women to disturb anyone's serenity, they would probably become fast friends.
No offense, guys, but surely you all must have something better to do than obsess about a 'has-been windbag'?
Virtually all of the people listed have advanced degrees, except maybe for Al Sharpton and Barbara Harris. I do know that Harris's lack of a decent theological education was an issue during the controversy over her consecration. Nevertheless, she was a professional in her other life prior to her ordination to the priesthood.
Is Pat Robertson any more problematic than our own Bill Donohue at the Catholic League who calls for a boycott of Wal-Mart just 'cause he doesn't like the response someone got in an e-mail from a customer service rep?
The Church can be so embarrassing...
And don't get me started on James Dobson. Or Deal Hudson.
Send 'em all to the Island!
Ben writes (in part):
There have been country songs written about this exact thought
This is disturbing on so many levels....
