USCCB: Malloy Wins

The bishops are just ending their coffee break, but within the last half-hour it was announced on the floor that Msgr. David Malloy, 49, a priest of the archdiocese of Milwaukee currently serving as the USCCB's Associate General Secretary, has been elected to serve as General Secretary, starting in February. As there is no cellphone service on the floor, a herd of bishops immediately flocked to the Lobby level of the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill to spread the news. Despite a request from the floor seeking the final vote tally, the numbers were not divulged.

They're moving on schedule so that the "extra omnes" commencing two full days of executive session, planned for 12.30 this afternoon, will proceed in a timely fashion. More soon.
