Stanisław...

Before his election as John Paul II, Karol Wojtyla wrote one last epic poem, a hymn to the city of his childhood, his priesthood, his episcopate. In tribute to his martyred predecessor, the patron of Poland, he named the poem "Stanisław."

But only this morning, in effect, we are hearing Wojtyla's final swan song -- as reported here last weekend, Benedict XVI has appointed Don Stanisław as the archbishop of Krakow.
