Before his election as John Paul II, Karol Wojtyla wrote one last epic poem, a hymn to the city of his childhood, his priesthood, his episcopate. In tribute to his martyred predecessor, the patron of Poland, he named the poem "
Stanisław."
But only this morning, in effect, we are hearing Wojtyla's final swan song -- as reported here
last weekend, Benedict XVI has appointed Don Stanisław as the archbishop of Krakow.
