Winner of the Week

Right after speaking to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops yesterday in Los Angeles, ICEL chair Bishop Arthur Roche of Leeds jumped on a plane to head home, where he'll be ordaining his diocese's new crop of priests tomorrow.

Despite the quick departure, his work was done.

In accomplishing the feat of soothing many skittish US bishops, spearheading a months-long campaign which promised them that their concerns on the translations and their implementation would be assuaged, and brokering the deals which secured the highly-sought, seemingly-quixotic approval of the American conference on his Commission's text, Roche is Whispers' Winner of the Week.
