DEUS CARITAS EST: The Press Conference

The Pope's announcement this morning (see below) of the publication of his first encyclical a week from today has jump-started the Vatican's logistical apparatus.

The press conference for the presentation of Deus Caritas est will, as previously mentioned, take place at noon on January 25 in the John Paul II Hall of the Sala Stampa, the Holy See Press Office. (Everything in Rome now being named for the late Pontiff.)

The speakers will be Cardinal Renato Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace; Archbishop William Levada, prefect of the CDF, and Archbishop Paul-Josef Cordes, president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum and, so it's said, the chief collaborator for this encyclical, much of which was actually prepared for a planned John Paul treatise on the exact same topic and, therefore, is yet another holdover from the last pontificate. (For more of those, see Seminary Visitations, Homosems Document, etc.)

I wonder who's doing the flowers....
