At the dawn of what promises to be a historic day for the Stateside church, there seems no more fitting way to start it off than this....

Que viva la Morenita de Tepeyac.

Speaking of which, the Chicagoland sanctuary of Maryville -- home to the Stateside church's largest annual gathering (as many as some 200,000 Guadalupe revelers on the night of 11-12 December, roads closed to traffic for miles around) -- is looking to amp up its profile... and quite deservedly so.

And the tableau wouldn't be complete without... matachines, go:

For the record, the expected move isn't so much the creation of a precedent as a return to one -- the first five ordinaries of what would become the LA church were Spanish-born.
