Reconquista

At the dawn of what promises to be a historic day for the Stateside church, there seems no more fitting way to start it off than this....

Speaking of which, the Chicagoland sanctuary of Maryville -- home to the Stateside church's largest annual gathering (as many as some 200,000 Guadalupe revelers on the night of 11-12 December, roads closed to traffic for miles around) -- is looking to amp up its profile... and quite deservedly so.

For the record, the expected move isn't so much the creation of a precedent as a return to one -- the first five ordinaries of what would become the LA church were Spanish-born.
