One notable Council's hand seems to have already been dealt, with strong buzz in the air indicating that it will be pieced apart, its various components spread across a streamlined and beefed-up coterie of second-tier dicasteries, with one desk likely being transferred up -- way up -- the Roman food-chain. Its president, a curial veteran, is said to have been briefed on the plans. His own future is looking to involve a change of location. The post was called "Journey into Egypt," and now you'll know why it was called that as it's starting to come to pass.
Stay tuned.
This morning, Archbishop Michael Fitzgerald, heretofore president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, was named apostolic nuncio to Egypt.
Obviously, the buzz has been floating around for a bit. But the outbound transfer of a curial head for the first time in this pontificate does indicate that the reshuffle period has entered its open season.
As always, stay tuned.
