The Camarillo Family Reunion

The clock's counting down with six days left until Archbishop-elect George Niederauer's triumphant installation in San Francisco. And the Cardinals' Class -- the three members of the St. John's Seminary, Camarillo classes of 1961-62 who either have red hats or will soon have one -- will all be present.

The public schedule of Cardinal Justin Rigali for next week has just been released. As expected, the Phar (Camarillo '61) he will be in attendance alongside Cardinal Roger Mahony (Camarillo '62) and Cardinale subito William Levada ('61), who will preside over the rite of installation as the specially-designated papal representative. Bishop Tod Brown ('63), who served as one of Niederauer's co-consecrators when he was ordained bishop of Salt Lake in 1995, is also expected from the episcopal alumni contingent, as are most of the sitting and retired auxiliaries of the new archbishop's native Los Angeles.

The high-hats are just a handful among a veritable flood of Camarillo alumni, clerical and lay, who are planning to show up as a tribute to Niederauer (Camarillo '62). Keep it here for full reports from the field next Wednesday.
