I said the other day that the Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi was one of our more "outlandish" geopolitical characters....

Well, here's a self-fulfilling prophecy for you:

[At a weekend dinner] he went on to complain that he feels like what he called "the Jesus Christ of Italian politics".

"I'm a patient victim. I put up with everything. I sacrifice myself for everyone," he said.

The European headlines are (predictably) going berserk with this: "Berlusconi: 'I Am Like Jesus'" or something of the kind....
