First... and Second

In record numbers described as "breathtaking," the nation -- and, by the looks of it, the church -- have spoken... and they've made Joe Biden the First Catholic of the United States.

Since George Washington and John Adams took office in 1789, only one other member of this fold has been called by the American people to serve in its executive.

Indeed, a goodly lot of the hierarchy wasn't terribly keen on that one, either.

Many millions are rejoicing. A couple million fewer are... something else. Regardless, it's a historic night; more to come.
