Bertone: Pius Not "Hitler's Pope"

In his aforementioned major address on Pius XII and the Jews, by all accounts the Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone SDB went on a tear last night at the Gregorian in defense of the wartime pontiff.

Fulltext yet to come, but the night's key utterance was Bertone's blunt affirmation that the cause for Pius' beatification (and beyond) "is a religious matter and must be respected as such," and that deciding the process' fate was the "exclusive competence" of the Holy See.

In other words, onward it moves.
