From Scranton, "Moral Force"

Already in the news for a stance that would lower the boom on the local native on the ticket and his diocese's status as one of the key swing-areas on which this election'll pivot, Bishop Joseph Martino of Scranton has released a two-page letter with directives that it both be read at all Masses there next weekend "at the time of and instead of the homily," and additionally placed in the parish bulletins.

Suffice it to say, the theologian-historian's contribution -- reminder that he'll be "vigilant" that "public officials who are Catholic and who persist in public support for abortion and other intrinsic evils" refrain from the Eucharist in the Northeast Pennsylvania church, included -- packs considerable heat; click on the shots to read the letter in full....
