From the Rostrum

In keeping with a century-old tradition, last night in St Paul the RNC was led in prayer by Bishop Thomas Wenski of Orlando:

(The US bishops' chair for international justice and peace, Wenski is the sole prelate to be given a convention slot this cycle; the local ordinary, Archbishop John Nienstedt, has kept his distance from the hall, but celebrated a Sunday evening Mass for the delegates in the host-city's eponymous cathedral.)

...and across the aisle, from last week's DNC in Denver, the benediction given by Sister of St Joseph Catherine Pinkerton, a leader of the church social-justice lobby Network:

On a related note, with 62 days left in the hustings, don't forget the Election Novena.
