Sharing Meals... and Masses

So, it happened.

No, not Tony Blair's conversion -- at least, not so far as we know (yet) -- but tomorrow's edition of The Tablet will report on a private Mass Cardinal Edward Egan of New York celebrated for the ex-UK PM, his family and a small group of aides in the chapel of the Madison Avenue residence of the archbishops of Gotham. Blair had, of course, given the keynote at last week's Al Smith Dinner in Midtown, drawing the annual fundraiser's biggest crowd since 2000.

In other things 1011, Gary Stern reports that, on a vicariate visit earlier this week to mark the archdiocese's bicentennial, Egan advocated for the canonization of, among others, Dorothy Day.
