NY: Meeting Monday at 452

In reaction to the anonymous letter which has circulated among his clergy, word from New York is that Cardinal Edward Egan has called a Monday morning meeting of the archdiocese's Presbyteral Council at his Madison Avenue residence.

Apologizing for the inconvenience of the snap session's timing, the New York prelate is said to have expressed his hope that the largest-possible representation of the council's membership could be present and his regret at the potential "damage" caused by the circulation of the unsigned document. The meeting will be held at 452 Madison as, recovering from knee-replacement surgery five weeks ago, the cardinal said he cannot yet travel to an external venue.
