"This Is the Beginning"

Bishop Michael Burbidge arrived yesterday in Raleigh, where -- before four cardinals and a sizable turnout of other high-hats -- he'll be installed on Friday as the North Carolina diocese's fifth bishop.

The News-Observer put together a slideshow of yesterday's welcome, where the Philly-born prelate received the keys to Sacred Heart Cathedral, and don't miss Yonat Shimron's Sunday profile of Burbidge, who becomes the US church's youngest non-native diocesan bishop.

So those interested can plan ahead, WRAL-TV in Raleigh plans to stream the installation liturgy, which begins at 2.30 Friday afternoon in the Meymandi Concert Hall, the home of the Raleigh Symphony.

And, in case you missed it, our local church has posted the video of Burbidge's homily from his Philadelphia farewell last Friday.
