As a prelude to the first anniversary tomorrow, the Vatican has released the combined attendance figures for the audiences, liturgies and other events of Benedict XVI's year on the Chair of Peter.
The grand total from the prefecture of the Papal Household came in at just over 4 million, over half of which was due to the Sunday Angelus appearances (1.875 million) and the Wednesday audiences, the lion's share of which -- except for the dead of Roman winter -- have been held in St Peter's Square (1.121 million).
