THE CONSISTORY: Pray For (No) Rain

A friend just chimed in to let me know that Rome's getting pummeled by a hailstorm right now -- "24 hours too early," he notes.

As it stands, the forecast is telling us that, grazie Dio, rain will be absent from tomorrow morning's Public Consistory in the Square, with a light shower beginning as the new cardinals sit down to lunch and extending through the period of the courtesy calls in the Apostolic Palace.

The prognostication for Saturday morning and the (also-outdoors) Mass of the Rings, however, doesn't look as promising; "AM showers" are on the biglietto, so to speak.

Temperatures, however, are in the very-comfortable mid-60s.
