Coming to Philadelphia....

Each year, early December brings with it the annual Day of Recollection for the priests of the archdiocese of Philadelphia. Held at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, the daylong event -- which takes place tomorrow -- includes time for adoration, priestly camaraderie and reaches its high point with a talk given by an ecclesiastical luminary brought in for the occasion.

This year, the planners have shown particular wisdom and savvy in inviting Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver to speak to the Philadelphia presbyterate.

Thank God.

This is a very good thing. A very, very good thing. The embodiment of plain-spoken uncompromising orthodoxy, using culture as a means to inspiring faith and effective, pro-active pastoral outreach in his own ministry, there's none better than he....

May the boys heed what he has to say.
