Warning Sign

When the insanity goes down, don't say I didn't tell you....

I have a feeling that the busy little bees (also known as the Catholic Taliban) will soon be swooping down, all hyped-up and outraged in defense of Queen and Faction. They'll do their best Peter Tatchell impersonations -- well, Tatchell plus four walls and a boatload of angst-ridden hypocrisy, but oh well.

One thing which has never ceased to amaze me is how the politics of personal destruction has become, in some sick minds, a weapon to use in what's supposed to be a dialogue of faith. If you don't agree with what you hear, moral code be damned -- attack to the death, defame your conversation partner's integrity, faith and reputation, condemn him to hell and wave his scalp in the air. This is what happens when Republicans anoint themselves as God's party....

As if God were a warmonger idiot.

So long as some among us think they'll change minds by ceaselessly defining their opponents as opposed to themselves, it's regrettable to conclude that, thanks to such manipulation, there will be no peace. Nor charity. Nor truth.

And all of us are worse off for the lack of those.

Rocco,
Your blog is at your best when the impression of neutrality is clearest.

Close-minded ranting is silly, ok; any rational person can see it, so you don't have defend yourself -- especially by quasi-engaging in it.

This blog's strength really is your unique access to info on Rome, presented in a straight-forward manner.
